A first hello, without another account.

From a private invitation to a browser call: the short version of setup, permissions and getting the other person connected.

Start with one person.

ImiCall connects two browsers over the internet. It does not call ordinary telephone numbers. You and the other person need an internet connection and a browser that supports microphone capture and WebRTC.

Open the app, add a connection and give it a recognizable name. The name stays in your own Phone Book. There is no signup form or central address book.

Treat the invitation like a key.

A complete invitation contains a randomly generated secret. Send it only to the person you intend to call, using a channel you trust. The other person opens the invitation and adds the shared connection.

Anyone with that invitation may be able to join. Don’t post it on a public profile or paste it into a bug report. If it leaks, make a new connection, share the new invitation privately and stop using the old line. Deleting a local contact does not revoke copies elsewhere.

Give the browser permission when you call.

Voice calls need microphone permission on a secure HTTPS page. You can browse the Phone Book without it. Tiny messages also works without microphone access.

If permission is denied, use the browser’s site settings to change it. A website cannot force the browser to reopen a blocked permission prompt. In an embedded preview or in-app browser, opening the link in your regular browser may help.

If you can connect but hear nothing, check the speaker volume, selected audio device and any tap-to-play prompt. Browser policies may prevent remote audio from starting without a gesture.

Keep both browsers open for the first call.

The simplest first-call test is to have both people keep the app open and select the same connection. One calls; the other answers. Optional background alerts are not a substitute for verifying that this basic flow works.

Default relay-only calling requires the operator to configure a working TURN relay. It protects against direct peer-address exposure. If no relay is available, the call stops rather than silently switching to Direct mode. Choosing Direct explicitly may expose your address to the other participant.

Keep the line, or choose a temporary session.

Regular contacts stay in this browser for next time. Export a password-encrypted backup before clearing browser data if you want to retain those connections.

Temporary sessions keep contacts in memory and discard them when the session reloads or ends. This does not erase browser history, downloaded files or anything copied by the other person.

ImiCall is not an emergency calling service. If the internet or service is unavailable, it cannot connect you.
